Main Channel (C-Channel)

The Main Channel (C-Channel) is a galvanized steel framing component shaped like a “C” in cross-section. It is used as the primary horizontal or vertical support in gypsum ceiling grids and partition walls.

In Gypsum Ceilings:
- Acts as the main runner (primary support) for suspending the ceiling grid.
- Fixed to the soffit (roof slab) using hanger wires or direct fastening.
- Supports cross tees (furring channels) to form a stable framework for gypsum boards.
In Gypsum Partitions:
- Serves as vertical studs (load-bearing members) within the partition wall framework.
- Fits between top and bottom U-channels to create a rigid structure.
- Provides a secure base for screwing gypsum boards on both sides.
