Door Frames

A wooden door frame is the structural assembly fixed within a wall opening to which a door is hinged. It acts as a supportive border and anchor point for the door itself. Traditionally made from solid timber like pine, oak, or maple, it consists of three main parts:

  • Two side jambs (the vertical pieces on either side).
  • A head jamb (the horizontal piece across the top).

The frame is often accompanied by decorative trim (called architrave or casing) that covers the gap between the frame and the wall, giving it a finished appearance.
